Maitake (Grifola frondosa) is a unique mushroom that is predominantly found thriving in clusters at the base of trees. It is often referred to as 'Ram's Head' in English-speaking climes, but in native Japan it is called 'Maitake,' meaning 'Dancing Mushroom.' Its distinctive characteristics are its fan-shaped cap and pores extending down its stem. Though its origin is uncertain, it is native to China and is also found thriving in forest regions in Japan and the United States.
