Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a mushroom that grows primarily on birch trees found in the northern temperate forests of the USA, Canada, Scandinavia (Finland, Norway, and Sweden), Russia, China, and Japan. It has a striking resemblance to burnt charcoal due to its blackish, irregular conk-shaped mass.
