Mechanism

Carbidopa inhibits peripheral decarboxylation of 5-HTP, potentially increasing central serotonin levels dramatically.

Effect

Excessive serotonin; possible serotonin syndrome

Management

Avoid combination. May cause severe serotonergic effects.
